We are thrilled to share a remarkable story that embodies the true essence of our mission—using football as a powerful tool for education and transformation.

Meet John Chuny, a young talent whose journey from South Sudanese refugee to football star is nothing short of inspiring. John’s story began in 2015 when he joined Cheza Sports Academy as a student from Nairobi South Primary School. Under the expert guidance of Coach Collo, John and his peers, who we fondly refer to as our "golden generation," honed their football skills, laying the foundation for a brighter future.

John’s talent on the field, combined with the academic support from our partnership with Machakos High School, earned him a prestigious football scholarship at Strathmore University. It was here that John’s dedication truly paid off. In a nail-biting finals playoff match, he scored the winning goal that propelled the Strathmore University team to the 3rd tier of the Kenya National Football League. This victory is not just a testament to his skill but also to the power of combining sports with education.

Cheza Sports Academy has long been a nurturing ground for South Sudanese refugees, helping them develop not only as athletes but also as scholars. Our alumna, Amy Lasu, captain of the South Sudanese women’s national team and a football ambassador currently playing professionally in Lithuania, stands as another shining example of the impact our academy has on young lives.

John Chuny’s success is a powerful reminder of why your support matters. Together, we are not just building players—we are building futures. Thank you for believing in the potential of these young talents and for helping us create opportunities that change lives.
